A little 5K and fun at Brazos Bend (encore)

I haven't run a race since my 15K in February so I decided to get out there again for a little 5K. So this past weekend I ran the Girls Inc. Spring Sprint. I signed Ella up too as she's been telling me that she wants to do a kids' race but she changed her mind the night before the race, and she just wanted to watch.  It was hot even at 8:10am when the race started but I still made a little better time than my usual 5K time, 34 mins.  The neat thing is that I got into it on my last lap, breathing and all.

After a quick nap and packing the cooler with meats, veggies, and fruit, we headed out to Brazos Bend park. We had a great time with a couple of friends (family and work.)

San Antonio getaway

For our 10th wedding anniversary this year we decided to take a little trip to San Antonio and visit Sea World. We had plans to do that for Ella's sixth birthday for we never did due to dad's medical issues and their delayed arrival in U.S.  The park was amazing, we loved all the shows, the Shamu being by far our favorite. Ella was excited and happy and I think we made a pretty big wish of hers come true by going.

The weather was perfect although the forecast was not looking good initially but we still decided to go and we're so glad we did. We had two weather and otherwise perfect days at the park. We also got to do the Riverwalk on our second night there and the day of our return we were going to stop by the Alamo but sweetie pie got a stomach bug that morning and instead, we drove home. That was on Mother's Day. I celebrated with some extra sleep as I was not feeling well either.

I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Sufficieth to say that we had a wonderful wonderful time!!

Quite a rider and a few other things

Ella is. We will miss Ms. Laurie as she is the one who put the reins in Ella's hands for the first time. She introduced Ella to the beautiful equestrian world.

She is moving out of the state which means Ella gets a new instructor.  Yesterday we had our first lesson with Ms. Jacqueline. It was awesome, intense, involved, and wonderful to watch. It was also quite a workout for this little one. Ella learned the 2-point position and did great. Ms. Jaqueline hasn't seen a six-year old rider as strong as Ella. We knew she's strong, physically but most importantly mentally.

She also got to try another horse, Buzz which turned to be a little bit easier to handle, not as temperamental as Flag, the Appalosa she's been riding and pictured above. :)

It was a pleasure to watch! I am so grateful for such a brave little girl who loves to learn and is not afraid of doing hard things. I love her passion. By the end she was so tired and was ready to get off the horse, she gave Buzz a big hug and wanted to take a nap right up there in the saddle. But Ms. Jacqueline pushed her to do another round. And I'm glad she did. We came home and celebrated hard work with a yummy healthy snack, some new healthified soda, and Coconut Milk Kefir. It was a great day and evening!!!!!

From the "Other things" category, we are so hoping and praying to get our Dallas house sold so we can purchase a home here and register Ella for school.

This Friday Hrishi and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary!!!!! Yay!!! Can you believe it??? We're taking a little family vacation to Sea World and Ella is over the moon. I can't wait either! I'm so excited!! :)

Life is going well, busy at work and home, but loving it! We have been so richly blessed. I have launched my fitness blog that I am sharing with a few friends who were interested, http://www.deliberatelyhealthy.blogspot.com/
