A Thankul Tree

That's what we will be making for our next family home evening project. A tree craft whose leaves note things and people that we are thankful for. And it will "reign" as a centerpiece on our Thanksgiving table. And as we love nature and trees, we will use actual tree branches.

I have a lot to be thankful for: prayers being answered, inner peace and balance, hope, health, super amazing people that make up my family (perfect daughter, husband, parents, grandfather, and in-laws), scriptures, The Spirit, wonderfully supporting friends I don't know what I would do without, a safe home and neighborhood, a great workplace and job where I get to do what I like the best in my profession; I'm grateful for talents, dreams, and aspirations, and for the perfect TX weather. :) The list could go on for pages, really. I'm making it a focus to count my blessings even more at this of the year. I've been making a more deliberate and conscious effort to get more out of my daily scripture study, and I've seen the blessings come. Thank you!

I ran across this quote yesterday and absolutely loved it; it rings so vibrantly for all that's occured in my life this past year.

"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit." ~Albert Schweitzer
(I am truly grateful for the people who do just that in my life.)

To prepare for the Thanksgiving festivities I hung Ella's art up:

I look forward to next week as Thanksgiving happens to be on dad's birthday this year! And he is one amazing person to be thankful for!!! I'm also excited to prepare our little Thanksgiving feast with my mom this year (but we'll leave the turkey to the master roaster/Hrishi as he makes the best!) I'm looking for a new dish to add to the traditional green beans casserole with mushrooms, sweet potatoes, greens salad, and turkey. Last year I made spinach and tofu pastries.
